In some ways it seems hard to believe that Grace has been with us seven months...time has gone by very fast. In other ways, it feels like every day of those seven months has been a learning experience for all of us. She continues to be a joy, a challenge, an inspiration, and a trooper. We are very proud of her adjustment and look so forward to her future. I know it is going to be so bright. I can't wait to see how God reveals this to Grace!!!! - I'm thinking she will be something incredible like the US Secretary of State (since she can't become president...you know, the whole not born in the US thing...).
On a lighter note, it took Grace seven months for the following breakthrough...
Last night, Grace watched an ENTIRE movie!!!! Heck, I would have been impressed with a 30 minute cartoon, but she and I had a chance to snuggle up and watch Cinderella for the first time. The rest of the family was at a high school basketball game, so Grace and I got on our jammies and made a little popcorn. She thought it was so cool to just lay on the floor together and watch a movie. I NEVER thought she could watch the whole movie. In the past seven months, Grace has maybe watched five minutes of TV at a time. Now, I realize that this might be seen as a blessing, but if I am being honest, there are times when I would just LOVE for her to plop down and watch some TV! Just keeping it real...
So, here she is. This was seven months in the making... She LOVED Cinderella. She said she does NOT love the mean stepmother, she DOES love Cinderella, and the stepsisters are "REALLY,REALLY, REALLY Sassy (a word Grace is quite familiar with)."
Another funny little tidbit about the past seven months:
When Grace came home, she did not like sweets! Can you imagine? She had no experience with treats (which are a staple in our house).

Grace seven months ago... the day after she came home. She had NO IDEA what to do with this cupcake...
Those Ethiopians really have it down..eating food with their fingers and not getting any on their fingers, hands, arms or mouth! We haven't learned that one here yet.
ReplyDeleteTime is FLYING... I Can not even believe it.
ReplyDeleteBella and Grace would be fast friends! I too noticed when Bella sat through an entire movie and brownies are a staple for Bella. In some ways i hope they never lose thier sassiness:) Yeah 7months home.
