"Sometimes I'd like to ask God why He allows poverty, famine, and injustice in the world when He could do something about it...but I'm afraid God might ask me the same question." -Anonymous
We've been blessed with the addition of our four year old daughter from Ethiopia. We fell in love with Ethiopia and want to honor the gift of our daughter by continuing to embrace her amazing homeland. Join us on our journey as we become a family of six through international adoption and as we work to support the beautiful country of Ethiopia.
Hi Deena, I've read your blog for awhile. We went to Ethiopia twice on mission trips with AGCI---I went in 2011 w/our 16 year old to serve in a HIV affected orphanage in the north---fell in love with Ethiopia and it's beautiful and joy-filled people!
We attend Calvary Bible Church in Neenah and after we got back from Ethiopia felt led to start up an orphan ministry there.
I wanted to pass on info about a seminar our ministry is hosting on October 13th. We are having Kristine Nutter, a Christian therapaeutic counselor speak, sharing ideas for families who are considering adopting/fostering or in the process and how to cocoon, what to do before the child comes home, etc. Our afternoon session Kristine will get into attachment---the different ways trauma can affect attachment, clues to problems, and tools to empower parents. One of our dear friends here is working with Kristine with their adopted 5 year old son from Ethiopia, and they have seen amazing results. We had Kristine speak earlier this year at our church, and I loved how she tied things back to our power through Christ to overcome so many of the challenges the children face---that so many things have to be addressed at the spiritual level before true healing can occur.
We do have a flyer on the event that I'd be happy to pass on to you. My e-mail is michaletz@centurytel.net
We left a piece of our hearts in Ethiopia and know that we will be going back (hopefully soon). This morning I was praying about whom else we can inform about the seminar and all the blogs that I hop from (and stay a lurker:)) came to mind---especially the ones that I know are kind of close. I'm pretty sure I remember you being in the Green Bay area.
Let me know if you are interested in the flyer-- Blessings, Amy Michaletz
