Well...it's time for our travel vaccinations...I am not too worried about getting the shots, but I want to make sure we get the right vaccinations and that we don't get any that we really don't need. Our appointment at the travel clinic is tomorrow. If you have any advice that you can offer to us about which vaccines you received before traveling to Ethiopia, I would really appreciate it. We are planning on getting the Hep A, Hep B, Meninogococcal, and Typhoid shots. We are both up to date with our Tetanus shots. I am not sure about getting the Yellow Fever vaccine...any thoughts??? I think we may also need a Polio booster????

Thanks for any advice you have!!!

  1. soo excited for you, Deena! I don't have any advice yet--we, too, will be asking for advice when the time comes. I am NOT a fan of immunizations anyway, so it will be VERY minimal for us, if any. Good luck!

  2. We got Yellow fever. Susan told us that they MAY look for proof of the vaccine at the airport upon entry and if you don't have it, they will give it to you. We didn't want that, so we got it stateside. If you plan to travel to her hometown, you may need Malaria.

    Have fun!! :)

  3. We got all the shots as we figured why not. I'm glad I did even though they hurt! I hate shots. If you have any questions, I would ask your nurse. Ours had tons of great information and could answer all of our questions.

  4. We did both Heps, Meningitis, Polio boosters, and took the Malaria pills with us but didn't take them. We've been to Ethiopia three times with no issues. :) Hope that helps.

  5. Yep, we got them all too! Not taking any chances. And, you'll be fine! Remember, my 7 and 9 year old got them all too!
